Liberty Alliance Privacy in an Online, Web 2.0 World Webcast Series Continues April 23

Public Webcast Demonstrates How the Liberty Identity Governance Framework Fills Privacy Requirements Across Applications and Networks

Washington, DC – April 21, 2008 (www.AllPayNews.com) – Liberty Alliance, the global identity community working to build a more trust-worthy internet for consumers, governments and businesses worldwide, today announced highlights of the Privacy in Perspective webcast taking place at 8:00am US PT (3:00 UTC) on Wednesday, April 23. The public event is hosted by Phil Hunt, Director Security Standards, Oracle Identity Management, and lead developer of the Liberty Identity Governance Framework (IGF) open source project at OpenLiberty.org. The session will overview the privacy benefits IGF delivers to enterprise applications and how the framework lays the foundation for developing enterprise-grade Web 2.0 applications.

The IGF is the industry’s first programmatic framework designed to help organizations meet regulatory requirements such as the European Data Protection Initiative, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, PCI Security Standard and Sarbanes-Oxley. IGF establishes a standard way of defining enterprise-level policies for organizations to share sensitive personal information securely and confidently between all identity-dependent applications. Liberty Alliance will release the first version of the framework during 2Q of this year. An overview of the IGF initiative is available at http://projectliberty.org/liberty/strategic_initiatives/identity_governa...

“The April 23 webcast will allow participants to understand how the IGF provides the foundation for protecting personal identity information (PII) across all enterprise networks and applications,” said Brett McDowell, executive director, Liberty Alliance. “Presenters will demonstrate how the IGF fills requirements for enabling privacy framework deployment across the enterprise, laying the groundwork for deploying a variety of enterprise-grade Web 2.0 applications.”

About the Privacy in Perspective Webcast Series
The April 16, 23 and May 7 webcasts examine risks and potential solutions for solving online privacy issues spanning enterprise and Web 2.0 applications and technologies. The series began on April 16 when Robin Wilton with Sun Microsystems and co-chair of the Liberty Alliance Public Policy Expert Group reviewed findings from the ongoing Liberty Alliance privacy summits. The series will conclude on May 7 when Byron Acohido and Jon Swartz, technology editors with USA Today, will review highlights from their new book Zero Day Threat, discussing the immediate and long-term security and privacy risks associated with online transactions, social networks and Web 2.0 technologies. Registration for the webcasts is available at http://www.projectliberty.org/liberty/news_events/webcasts
