China to monitor mobile phone payments in search for porn sites
BEIJING -- Chinese police will monitor mobile phone payment platforms, focusing on larger transactions, as a key part of their efforts to close down pornographic Web sites, an official with China's Bureau of Public Security (BPS) said Thursday at a conference in Beijing.
"As everyone knows, pornographic photos and service providers set their prices fairly high. Therefore monitoring can be improved by specially targeting higher priced services," said Zhao Shiqiang, Director of the BPS's Public Information Network Security Supervision Bureau.
