SIX MAJOR BANKS IN THAILAND SELECT HYPERCOM EFTSec SERVER
SCOTTSDALE and BANGKOK, September 3, 2008 (AllPayNews) – Hypercom Corporation’s (NYSE: HYC) EFTSec Server has been selected by six major banks in Thailand to help protect against the growing threat of wire tapping fraud. The Hypercom security servers encrypt all cardholder data sent between point-of-sale (POS) terminals and the banks, thwarting attempts to intercept sensitive cardholder and transaction data.
Hypercom won the business in a competitive bid against other global payment providers. The banks include Kasikornbank, the fourth largest bank in Thailand in terms of total assets.
“In Thailand and other neighboring countries, wire tapping fraud has grown as criminals intercept unencrypted credit card data as it is transmitted between a retailer and a bank,” explained Mr. Somchai Pichitsurakij, President of Fraud Working Group and Vice President of Kasikornbank. “Hypercom’s EFTSec Server will help us fight this fraud and protect our customers’ sensitive financial data.”
Hypercom’s EFTSec Server is easy to install and is activated by simply plugging it into an existing Hypercom network infrastructure without causing disruption to data flows. Additionally, it requires minimal operational or administrative overhead to run.
“The EFTSec Server showcases Hypercom’s commitment to developing affordable and easy-to-install technology that provides financial institutions and retailers with the best-of-breed security against card and payment fraud,” said Mr. T. K. Cheung, Managing Director, Hypercom Asia-Pacific.
