Dominion Virginia Power And Checkfree Team Up To Save Customers Money And Support Project Plant It!

- Going paperless helps save trees
- eBills save time, postage costs
- CheckFree will donate $1 to Project Plant It! for every enrollment

RICHMOND, Va. (AllPayNews) – Dominion Virginia Power customers who sign up for eBill at www.dom.com will not only save time and money but also help teach students hands-on lessons about environmental stewardship.

For every Dominion Virginia Power customer who enrolls in the electronic billing and payment program from Sept. 1, 2008, through Oct. 31, 2008, CheckFree will contribute $1 to Dominion’s Project Plant It! program, a community effort to educate children, plant trees and improve the environment.

“This partnership benefits Dominion customers, Virginia students and the environment by providing a convenient, economic method for paying bills that does not require paper, postage or the harvesting of trees,” said William C. Hall Jr., vice president - Corporate Communications & Community Affairs.

More than 375,000 Dominion Virginia Power customers currently pay their bills electronically through the electronic billing and payment services of CheckFree, now part of Fiserv Inc. According to a Javelin Strategy and Research study, if all U.S. households viewed and paid bills online they could save 16.5 million trees each year.

“E-bills help reduce clutter, save time and provide an easy way for all of us to make a difference in improving the environment,” said Michelle Flint, vice president and group executive, Fiserv Internet Banking and Electronic Payments Group. “We are proud to participate with Dominion Virginia Power on the Project Plant It! program to help educate children about ways they can help preserve the environment.”

Fiserv delivers electronic bills (e-bills) online for more than 400 companies in 29 countries, representing thousands of consumer brands and most of the bills common to a U.S. household. E-bills are electronic representations of paper bills that are securely delivered to a business or financial institution Website.

Project Plant It! is a partnership among Dominion, the Arbor Day Foundation and selected local school districts in areas where the company does business. Nearly 20,000 elementary school students this year in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Virginia have learned about the value of trees in our ecosystem and how to recognize and care for trees. Each student participating in the program receives a tree seedling to plant on Arbor Day on April 24, 2009. For more information, visit www.ProjectPlantIt.com.

Dominion is one of the nation's largest producers of energy, with a portfolio of approximately 27,000 megawatts of generation. Dominion serves retail energy customers in 11 states. For more information about Dominion, visit the company's Web site at http://www.dom.com.
